So the
two-four weekend was amazing, if Tricia would have put cream on my head, it
would surely have been, "the best weekend of my life". Suffice to
say, if Derek can be the meat in a boob sandwich, then there must
certainly be a "next time" for me. Hear that Tricia? Next time ...

Reading this, one might start to ask oneself what kind of party was it,
& I would simply answer, "a great freaking party"! &
it was, ... easily one of the best nights of my life, thus far. I can't
remember the last time I attended an event that had so many of my siblings
together with so many Roehler's. From building scarecrows, to blowing stuff up,
to singing with my son, nephew, & brother-in-law; I can't tell you what
part of the night I enjoyed the most, & so it stands as the best
celebration of family I've attended in many, many years.
-
To that end, & on this positive note I hope you will indulge me this rant
...

While it is certain that the most potent thing I "enjoyed" this
weekend was the plethora of "Fanta" flavours; many others were
enjoying beer, vodka coolers, "Chocolate Martinis" & a host
of many other grown up goodies I'm sure I didn't even know about. That is,
after-all what people do when they come together in a social setting isn't it?
The goal is to relax & enjoy each other's company & what better
way to accomplish said task, but to introduce a social lubricant. This weekend
had a bunch of it, & everyone had a blast, there was little if any of
the negative stuff that often accompanies these events. Everyone I talked to
was smiling, laughing talking, reminiscing, & all noted how great
it was to just be together. Yet, as I write this, I know that many who read it will share the same opinion: no matter the event, we each know of
someone who simply has no business drinking alcohol, or using any of those "social
lubricants".

The last thing I want to do here, is to drag an amazing weekend through the
"Freudian Dissection" you've all come to expect from me. It was the
single best weekend I've had, those who know of Sara's recent "go
ahead" understand. The family coming together was icing on this otherwise
perfect cake. This rant has far more to do with what I came home to, the FB
posts that greet me each morning. Maybe I should go back to enjoying my morning
cup of colon mover, with the paper. I love being a husband, I cherish being a
father. These are the dreams I never imagined would come true. I am smart
enough to know that in parenting, mimicry is every thing. Believe this when you
read it: "Your Children Will Do What You Do, & Rarely What You
Say"! Therefore I was very lucky to learn what my problem was, &
how to fix it, as young as I did. I am one of those people who have no business
playing around with social lubricants. & I'm quite happy to get you
your next one, while I enjoy the next Fanta Flavour in the party pack.

What floors me are the ignorant, un-educated water heads who constantly post
things about how great "weed" is, yet the very next week & a
half of posts are about how much their lives suck. "Hello"!? Every
other person that reads your posts gets why your life sucks! Who's the dumb ass
now? A "Drug" is defined as 1) a chemical substance that affects
the processes of the mind or body, or 2) any chemical compound used in the
diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease. So, to that end, if
"weed" is your "therapy" then you, much like every other
"patient" are using a "drug" for treatment. As well, like
every other chemical compound that has been derived from natural sources,
including "plants" your precious "weed" is a
"drug", you fucking brain dead dumb ass !!!

My question is simple: what do you think your children think of the parent you
are? Really, wrap your head around that one. Not how your kids would answer
you, but how they would answer someone else. What are they saying to teachers
about you? What are they saying to friends, & their friends parents
about you? You think every parent puts partying at the top of the priority
list? We had a blast on the two-four, but then it was done. We all went back to
jobs, homes, & raising families. That's the difference, this
is not a daily habit, or even 2, or 3 times a week. The problem starts when you
lose control, & to that end "anything" can become a dependency issue.
Maybe sex, shopping, scratch tickets, or Big Macs are your thing. Maybe it's
bingo, poker or cleaning your house. Does it keep the reality of life away?
Does your family, your spouse, or your children lose you to that thing that you
can't put down? These are the questions you need to ask.
-
I've been asking those questions, of myself for a very long time, & I'm
happy to report that those people that mean the most, surrounded me all weekend
long, & I soaked up every moment I could, & I can't wait to do
it again. The Coolest part, I think they are looking forward to seeing me to!
Kinda cool to be able to say that, & know in my heart that it's true,
... til Next Time ... }:)
Love, S.
